Welcome to Year 2!

The Bee Class are taught by Miss Green and the Peacock Class are taught by Mrs Elton.

Miss Green loves teaching Art and her favourite food is pizza! Mrs Elton loves teaching Maths and can often be found eating chocolate. Working alongside Miss Green are Miss Elliott and Mrs BB and with Mrs Elton, you will find Mrs Walton and Mrs Middleton. Year 2 is an exciting year with lots of fun and engaging learning for your child to enjoy! In Science, we will learn about plants and grow our own, we discover how important hygiene is using glitter and bread and we learn about a range of different materials including finding the best material for Santa’s sleigh. In Geography, we study the local area, learn about the seaside (with a seaside day on the playground) and we bake bread linked to our Brazilian topic. In History, we learn about Queens of the Past, including Bess of Hardwick and we make our own Tudor houses as part of our Great Fire of London topic. We take them down to our Forest School area and set them alight to understand why the Great Fire of London spread so quickly.

Important information

-The school gates open at 8.40am. The school day starts at 8.45am.

-The school day finishes at 3.15pm. As per school policy, any pupil not collected on time will be put in after school club.  

-PE is currently inside on a Thursday afternoon. Pupils will need a full PE kit on a Thursday and earrings must be removed or taped up.

-Pupils must have a coat in school at all times as we do go outside for breaktime even if it is drizzling.

-Pupils must have a water bottle in school at all times as they are encouraged to drink throughout the day.

-Your child should read at home four times a week and this should be recorded in their reading diary.

-Your child will have a phonics book which is matched to their phonics group. They will also have a book from the library which is a book that they can read with you for pleasure.
