Welcome to our new School Council page. To find out more about what we are up to, please read our weekly newsletters. The newsletters are in date order with the latest one first. Our newsletter contains the names of the children that have been chosen to be in the 'Golden Book', as well as information about what the school council do each week in their weekly meetings.
The school council were chosen through a class voting system, by their peers, at the beginning of the year. The children are the voice of the school and meet once a week to discuss how to improve the school and take a very active part in the decisions made in school.
As well as the production of the school council newsletter, the children have other fantastic ideas. Some of their future plans are to have training to become 'Wellbeing Warriors' in order to help everyone in our school have healthy minds and healthy bodies, to raise money to begin making our school 'greener' by adding recycling bins etc and to be trained to meet and greet visitors with Mrs Stevenson.
So far they have held some very successful events e.g. no uniform days, popcorn and film events, competitions, fund raising events and Christmas card creation events. They have created 'Playground Buddies' who are out on the playground and trained to support their other peers and help solve problems. They have also set up 'Buddy Reading' where our youngest learners in EYFS and KS1 have their own KS2 'Buddy' to practise their reading with each Friday.
They have some super ideas for the future e.g more discos, role swapping day, water dispensers, increase playground resources....
If you have any ideas that you think the school council may be interested in then please see Mrs French.
